Cellulite is one of those things not many people talk about but many people have and just want to go away. It’s uneven texture and appearance irritate many even though this appearance is a common issue many people struggle with.
So, what is it? Cellulite is an accumulation of fat cells that push against fibrous chords beneath the skin creating an uneven texture and dimpling. Think of fat pressed against fishnet stockings for a visual comparison. Hormones and genetics can and do play a role in who has cellulite as it comes down to fat and skin structure. Women are more prone to cellulite than men and this is why we see more women in our office for treatments to treat cellulite than we do men.
What can we do about cellulite? While there aren’t many things you can do to treat cellulite and some treatments may not completely get rid of cellulite there are options to help. Two options we have at Elixir Aesthetics is the Venus Legacy and DeepRF treatments. Venus Legacy uses radio frequency and pulsed magnetic fields to target fat cells and create a thermal reaction under the tissue that stimulates the body’s natural healing response, increasing blood circulation, and causes the skin to contract as well as shrink fat cells passing excess out the lymphatic system. While the DeepRF is an extension of the VirtueRF and is a form of radio frequency microneedling like Morpheus8 but is more comfortable and a more advanced technology. The DeepRF and VirtueRF are effective at increasing blood circulation, induces collagen production, improving elasticity and skin laxity as a result; tightening skin. The microneedling and radio frequency together help with cellulite by targeting the fatty deposits under the skin causes them to shrink and pass through the lymphatic system.
Which is better? The DeepRF has more of a tightening effect than the Venus Legacy and the Venus Legacy has more of a body sculpting effect than the DeepRF. If you have more loose skin and cellulite the DeepRF is better. If you have more stubborn fat and cellulite the Venus Legacy is better. If you have both, you will need a combination of the two.
