Q: What does microneedling do for your skin?
A: If what you want is skin resurfacing and rejuvenation, you should consider microneedling! It’s commonly called collagen induction therapy because it stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen, and it’s this collagen which helps to heal and renew our skin. As we all know all too well, aging will affect our appearance drastically, but many of us don’t know it’s mostly because our skin loses its ability to produce collagen easily. Microneedling may help make up for this and help us fix age spots, blemishes, large pores, acne scarring, wrinkles, fine lines, or discoloration on the face.
The microneedling procedure is much easier than it sounds, we promise! It’s only minimally invasive, as it uses a tool with very fine needles on it, and these tiny needles are harmless. They gently and slightly prick the skin, which activates its ability to produce collagen and elastin. These are protein elements that help the skin heal, strengthen, and smoothen. The end result can be healthier, tighter, and more vibrant skin!
Q: How often should you do microneedling?
A: This depends on your aesthetic and health needs. With microneedling, you could have a session every four to six weeks. Typically, microneedling needs at least three treatments, but if it’s being done for scar reduction, it may need three to six treatments. Between treatments, about four to six weeks should pass. We’ll help you come up with the perfect treatment schedule when you come see us for a consultation!
Q: How long does it take to see results from microneedling?
A: Actually, this is one of the big advantages of microneedling! Typically, within a week or so, a patient will see some signs of improvement. In about four to six weeks, more dramatic results may develop, and additional treatments will yield the best results possible. The results you can expect depend on what kind of microneedling you’re getting and other factors. We’ll be able to give you a more accurate answer to this question when you come see us for a consultation.
Q: What kinds of microneedling are there?
A: At Elixir Aesthetics, we offer standard microneedling procedures as well as microneedling with regenerative therapy (autologous therapy microneedling) and VirtueRF microneedling! Autologous therapy microneedling uses injections to enhance the healing process, while VirtueRF microneedling uses a combination of microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy for potentially greater collagen and elastin production.
You can learn more about autologous therapy microneedling here and VirtueRF microneedling here. Of course, you’re welcome to contact our clinic about any of our treatments or to book a consultation with a specialist.
