While it may seem counter-intuitive to inflict small-scale damage on your skin for the purpose of rejuvenating it, that is precisely what microneedling does! If you want to make your skin shine with the glory of youth, Skin Rejuvenation microneedling can do just that. The healing properties of microneedling provide your skin with excellent benefits. We are proud to offer this procedure at Elixir Aesthetics!
What is Skin Rejuvenation W/ Microneedling?
Let’s break it down. Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that uses tiny, sterile needles to roll over and prick the skin to trigger a healing response in the treatment area. Your body’s healing response involves the production of new collagen, a protein that is crucial to your body’s ability to generate new connective tissue in your skin, cartilage, and bones. An increased amount of collagen production in your skin leads to younger and fresher looking and feeling skin.
When skin rejuvenation is added to the microneedling process, the healing response is multiplied. The ingredients in Skin Rejuvenation are all derived from your blood. Blood is drawn from your arm into a vial and placed in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelets and the plasma. The platelets in your blood are made from bone marrow and are tiny cell fragments that help your blood clot for healing purposes. Plasma is the liquid portion of your blood that is yellowish in color once the red blood cells are removed. The proteins in Skin Rejuvenation, which include growth factors and cytokines, help to repair skin tissue. As such, microneedling with Skin Rejuvenation is an enhanced version of original microneedling.
How can skin rejuvenation microneedling help me?
Skin Rejuvenation microneedling can help individuals in numerous ways for plenty of different skin conditions! Some of these conditions include acne scars, broken capillaries, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, large pores, spider veins, sun damage, surgical scars, uneven skin texture, and wrinkles. By treating these conditions, Skin rejuvenation microneedling can provide your skin with a firmer and smoother texture, more even skin tone, and a fresh glow! The addition of skin rejuvenation to microneedling helps speed up the healing process so that you can experience quicker and more dramatic results than with traditional microneedling.
What should I expect from Skin Rejuvenation W/ Microneedling?
First off, you and your clinician will have an initial consultation, during which you will discuss your medical history, treatment goals, and will have the opportunity to ask the clinician any questions you have about treatment. After the brief consultation, we will begin with treatment. As a preparation, the treatment area will be thoroughly cleaned, and the clinician will draw a small amount of blood from your arm. They will then put the blood into a centrifuge to separate the platelets and plasma from the red blood cells. The separation process will take about ten minutes. Once the blood has sufficiently separated, your clinician will roll the microneedling device over the treatment area, pricking tiny holes in the skin. The skin rejuvenation will then be applied to the treatment area to fill the holes left by the microneedling device. In total, this process should take between 30 minutes to an hour, in addition to the initial consultation.
Over the next month, your skin will gradually heal itself, leaving behind a younger and more vibrant looking tone and texture. For best results, most patients have three treatments that are spaced about one month apart. No downtime is required from Skin Rejuvenation microneedling, and any discomfort from the procedure should resolve itself within three days of treatment. You can expect results to last for one to two years following three treatment sessions. After the treatment, make sure you continue to hydrate your skin and avoid too much sun exposure.
