What Are Peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids and in some cases gastric juices linked by peptide bonds. Chains of fewer than ten or fifteen amino acids are called oligopeptides, and include dipeptides, tripeptides, and tetrapeptides. There are peptides for your skin, weight loss, muscle growth and recovery. Peptides are popular amongst our patients as they’re a more tailored option for our patients and they feel FANTASIC!

What are the most popular peptides?

Our most popular peptides include CJC/Ipamorelin, Melanotan II, AOD, and BPC-157. Each of them serving a different purpose.

What is Melanotan II?

Melanotan II is an analog of the peptide hormone alphamelanocyte stimulating hormone (a-MSH) that induces skin tanning and aids in prevention of skin damage. It stimulates melanogenesis and provides a protective mechanism against UV rays. This peptide has also coined the name of the “Barbie Pill” due to the fact Melanotan II exhibits a mild fat burning effect. Some pharmacies have Melanotan II in an injection while Elixir Aesthetics has Melanotan II in the form of a troche which is a dissolvable flavored lozenge that is taken under the tongue until dissolved. We can flavor them raspberry, marshmallow, or mint. We recommend taking it in 3-6 month increments.

What is AOD?

AOD means anti-obesity drug. It is the last 16 amino acids of the larger growth hormone molecule. It was originally intended for fat loss but has been shown in recent years to have its place in regenerative medicine. AOD has been used in treatments such as osteoarthritis. Patients that have taken AOD have noticed weight loss, relief in stiffness and pain, and improved function. Some pharmacies make AOD as an injectable, we prescribe capsules or troches.

What is CJC/Ipamorelin?

CJC/Ipamorelin is prescribed in 2 dose options decided by your provider and is in troche form. Its benefits are muscle growth and recovery. Compared to other peptides and prescriptions it does not release the same amount of cortisol, prolactin, aldosterone, and acetylcholine. It is a selective GH secretagogue.  With Ipamorelin and CJ-1295 being combined provides a synergetic effect. Both CJC and Ipamorelin work on different receptors making it more efficient.

What is BPC-157?

BPC 157, composed of 15 amino acids, is a partial sequence of body protection compound (BPC) that is discovered in and isolated from human gastric juice. Experimentally it has been demonstrated to accelerate the healing of many different wounds and prevent injury. Our patients have noted that they are not sore after their work outs, have not had an injury since starting BPC-157, 2 of our patients had a speedy recovery after surgery, and 1 patient had back pain and was going to have surgery until he started BPC157 and his pain diminished to the point he no longer needed surgery and quality of life improved. This is a must-have amongst our athletes.

What is a troche?

A small tablet or lozenge, usually a circular one, made of medicinal substance worked into a paste with sugar and mucilage or the like, and dried.

Who prescribes our peptides?

Our Nurse Practitioner Vonnie! She is excellent and incredibly knowledgeable. Not only has she been practicing medicine for over 10 years but has additional certifications in Hormone Replacement Therapy and Integrative medicine. The last we had checked, Vonnie was the only one with these additional certifications in the state of Colorado with these additional dual certifications.
